Heritage of Abdallah Candies
In 1909, at the corner of Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis, young Albert stood over a small copper kettle filled with the best ingredients he knew. As his new confection boiled over the open flame, Albert knew that if this batch of candy wasn’t absolutely perfect he would be trying again. As a newcomer to America at the turn of the twentieth century, the ambitious Tripoli native along with his new Swedish wife, fair and beautiful Helen Victoria, tirelessly supplied their growing demand for fine confections.
Again and again, a new recipe would be perfected. Passing from one generation to the next, Albert’s perseverance and optimism would see the family candy makers through bankruptcy in 1930, as a result of the great depression and through a devastating and fiery explosion that destroyed their business in 1965.
A mission to never compromise the legacy of quality bound the Abdallah family to their founder’s simple philosophy of success. Wholesome and pure ingredients, intricate techniques and even a few of the same pot and pans allow our family, generations later, to present to you, these classic confections.
